Dimitris Plagiannis holds the position of Corporate Strategy Advisor at Mellon Group of Companies since the beginning of 2013. As an expert, he is responsible for consulting, evaluating and approving the Group’s initiatives in the area of digital technologies and mobile payments.
Dimitris holds a BA (honours) in Economics from the University of Piraeus and an MBA in MIS from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada.
He has more than 15 years of experience in senior management positions in the IT sector, primarily in the financial and telecommunications industries and in addition 20 years of field experience managing highly complex business transformation & IT integration projects.
Dimitris started his professional career in Canada in 1980 as a Systems Analyst and then as a CFO, where he remained until 1986.
From 1986 to 1988, he worked as a Project Manager for IT projects at ERGODATA SA. In 1989 he started his collaboration with INTRACOM Group establishing and managing the Group’s financial services sector. In 2008 he resigned from the position of the General Manager of the Financial & Enterprise Solutions Division and until the end of 2012, he served as the CEO of ETHNODATA SA, a subsidiary of the National Bank of Greece.
He has published articles, organized conferences and for many years been a speaker at conferences organized by the Greek Management Association (EEDE) and the Economist.
In 2010 Dimitris was elected Vice President of The Hellenic Institute of Information & Communication Management – an Institute of EEDE. He is also a founding member of the Department of Leadership at EEDE, since 2009.
In 2013 he was elected and presently holds the position of the Auditing Committee President at the Hellenic Federation of ICT Enterprises (SEPE).
